Form Workshop is Studio Skåtar’s platform for computational design, advanced modelling and geometric exploration.
Its focus is not software for its own sake, but the development of the designer’s own geometric and artistic skills, technical understanding and critical design judgement.
Form Workshop has been developed through university teaching and professional workshops since 2012.

Form Workshop works primarily with Rhino, Grasshopper and emerging AI-assisted methods.
We are interested in what these tools can make possible — but equally in the geometric understanding, artistic intention and judgement required to decide what should be made and why.
Technical skill and architectural thinking are therefore developed together.
Form Workshop was initiated and is directed by Fredrik Skåtar, architect SAR/MSA, lecturer and researcher based in Berlin.
His work combines architectural practice, computational design, geometric modelling, teaching and research, with a particular interest in design methodology and the relationship between tools and critical design judgement.

The two activities overlap in research, teaching and design, while Form Workshop focuses specifically on geometry, computational methods and the relationship between tools and design judgement.
